Artist Charles Kuks Paintsil, a native of Ghana, is a graduate
of The College of Art and Industry, Kwame Nkrumah University of
Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. He graduated in 1981. After
graduation, he taught art appreciation and painting. These activities
have taken Charles to Nigeria, the Caribbean and the USA. Charles
medium preference are oils on canvas, but he is equally talented
in the use of acrylics. As you will notice, he signs his paintings
Kuks Paintsil, the name he prefers to use, to reflect his native
Africa. His paintings have been sold in the USA, Jamaica, France
and England.
Ekow
Paintsil, his father, was in the automobile business and an art
collector. He realized Charles' flare for the arts and took his
son on his business trips to Florence, Venice and London, England.
While in these countries, they had the opportunity of observing
the great works of art by touring the many art galleries and museums
in those countries.
His
style is a blend of Expressive realism, with the western perception
of color application and traditional African subjects and the earth
tone colors (brown palettes). Most of his works have superimposition
of both colors and figures w/an effect of transparency shown in
most of his works.
Commissioned
portraits are welcomed from interested visitors of the web page,
since he has lately devoted more studio time to painting portraits.
